Top 10 Must-Attend 2020 Fishing Tournaments In Florida

There is nothing quite as exciting in the world of fishing than being part of a tournament. The beauty of Florida is that you have the opportunity to catch different species of fish throughout the year. Plus, it is home to some of the top fishing tournaments in the United States.

While we’re not here to provide a complete list of fishing tournaments in Florida, we wanted to give you insight on a few that you definitely shouldn’t miss in 2020!

1.     Jimmy Johnson’s National Championship Fishing

Jimmy Johnson’s National Championship Fishing Tournament is known for having a slew of celebrities involved. It will be taking place in early March of next year, and will host the largest purse of any tournament in Florida.

2.     Key West Fishing Tournament

The Key West Fishing Tournament takes place over the course of eight months from the beginning of the year deep into August. There are different divisions ranging from pee wees to men and women.

3.     11th Annual Rock the Dock Fishing Tournament

If you’re looking to win cash prizes while pitting your skills against other fishermen, the 11th Annual Rock the Dock Fishing Tournament is a must-visit. It takes place in Panacea during late April with both inshore and offshore divisions.

4.     Robert James Sales Sunrise Tournament

The Robert James Sales Sunrise Tournament is just one of the three Redbone Celebrity Trilogy tournaments. It gives you the chance to hang with the stars while chasing tarpon. The tournament takes place on April 24-April 26 and requires fishermen to fish in teams of two.

5.     Inshore/Offshore Wars Fishing Tournament

The Inshore/Offshore Wars Fishing Tournament takes place on June 6th in Naples. You can launch from six different regional boat ramps and put your skills to the test against anglers from all over the state.

6.     Sebastian Exchange Blue Water Open

The Sebastian Exchange Blue Water Open is a charity fishing tournament that takes place at Captain Hiram’s Resort in Sebastian. The purse is typically pretty high, though details haven’t yet been posted for 2020.

7.     Pensacola International Billfish Tournament

The Pensacola International Billfish Tournament  has a limit of eight different types of fish, which include swordfish, sailfish, wahoo, tuna, and dolphin. The tournament is hosted by the Pensacola Yacht Club and has tons of fun activities attached. Details have not yet been released for 2020.

8.     Curtis Anders Memorial Catfish Classic

The Curtis Anders Memorial Catfish Classic typically takes place at the end of September, though details have not been released for 2020 quite yet. It is made to benefit the Wewahitchka Search and Rescue. There are divisions for adults and kids under 14.

9.     Treasure Coast Bonita Blast

The Treasure Coast Bonita Blast typically takes place in late August in Port Salerno. The tournament is low-cost, perfect for young or inexperienced anglers. Beyond fishing, there are great raffles and tons of food/entertainment!

10.  Fish United Way Tournament

The Fish United Way Tournament takes place in Lake Parrish, which is a famous bucket list spot for many anglers. Because the lake is typically closed to the public, the tournament gives anglers a good chance to get out and win some cash!
